What Caused the Eaton Fire?
Preliminary information suggests the fire may have been caused when High Voltage Transmission Tower lines from the M24T3 structure swayed close enough to energize an out of service electricity line due to high wind gusts. The lines from the M24T3 structure may have energized the lines on out of service Electricity Tower (M16T1 structure), which caused it to overload and release sparks into the unmaintained and overgrown vegetation underneath. Images from the site of the start of the fire may show improper grounding of out of service structure.
